To help every student understand school bus safety, our #GreenonKnights Transportation Team hosts “Bus Safety Talks” for K–3 students. They meet our bus drivers, explore a school bus, and learn important safety tips and expectations.
This ensures even students who don’t ride daily know what to expect on field trips or special events. Huge shoutout to our transportation team for making sure all students feel safe and confident when riding the bus 🚌

Attention Greenon 8th Grade Families:
The 2026 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip is tentatively scheduled for May 5–8, 2026.
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 9th, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Greenon High School cafeteria.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, Mr. McCaw, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, will have information available for students to bring home beginning September 10th.

We’re so excited to have all of our #GreenonKnights students in the buildings with us — including our newest Knights, our kindergarteners! We love seeing our older students step up as leaders, helping our kinders get acquainted with the building, guiding them through the breakfast line, and teaching them how to open their milks!

Greenon is taking on Northeastern in the Goodwill Easterseals Drive to Victory: Band Edition next week! A donation trailer will be on our campus on Monday morning, Aug. 25 and open for donations 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday.

Let's give a #GreenonKnights welcome to Drew Kelly, our new Head Men's Basketball coach!
Background in the Sport and Years of Experience: My father and grandfather both coached at high school and college levels, so I literally grew up in a gym around the game of basketball. I played high school basketball for Centennial High School in Franklin, TN and then to Division 1, Morehead State University, where I was a four-year captain. As for coaching, after I finished with my Master’s, I coached for Bath County High School in Kentucky. After that, I was on staff as an assistant coach last year at Greenon. I am excited to continue coaching this program!
Coaching Philosophy: I try to implore a service before self-style of coaching. My faith and walk with Christ over the past few years have really taught me to try to be a servant to others around me. I think basketball can be a great teacher for the challenges that these young men will face in life. For the on-court stuff, I like to push the tempo, sit down and guard. Let the guys be basketball players. These guys will learn to compete till the buzzer sounds and do what it takes to be all in.
For our Knights teams and fans: I’m very blessed and honored to be selected as the next head coach for Greenon High. I married Allie Turner who played here from 2006 to 2010 and it's really cool to be able to pour back into the community that she grew up in. Thanks for GLSD leadership for giving me a chance to coach these young men and God willing, I’m looking forward to being around as your head coach for many years to come.
