Our staff brought down the house with an EPIC lip sync concert for our students for raising over $40,000 for the Greenon Knights PTO Color Run!
From “We Will Rock You” and “Party in the U.S.A.” to a Michael Jackson tribute and the Backstreet Boys, and of course “Hang on Sloopy” and more, our staff has some serious ⭐️ power!

Mrs. Casto's Plant and Animal Science classes attended FFA Day at Heritage Cooperative H-Plot. This event introduces students to the science, technology, and career opportunities shaping modern agriculture.
Students explored agronomy, field operations, and Heritage Cooperative’s role in agriculture, while solving real-world challenges and connecting with Heritage professionals.

Recently, some of our senior #GreenonKnights attended Manufacturing Day at Sinclair Community College, where they watched and listened to demonstrations on the manufacturing equipment.
The day focused on Advanced Manufacturing education. They also attended a job fair and learned about various positions at businesses around Dayton!

Recently, a few of our #GreenonKnights juniors attended the Money, Market & Megabytes Discovery Day!
This event is hosted by the Greater Springfield Partnership. Prior to the trip all juniors took the YouScience career aptitude assessment and learned about their top career clusters.
The event was set up like a Shark Tank style challenge. Students worked in teams to solve a real-world problem. Then they pitched their idea to a group of industry professional judges.

It’s the annual Apple On Top Challenge! 🍎
Our #GreenonKnights 7th grade STEM students in Mrs. Rickets’ class put their engineering skills to the test by designing a device to hold an “apple” on their heads, then tested their creations in a relay race!
Always a favorite STEM project!
Our #GreenonKnights 7th grade STEM class with Mrs. Ricketts finished their first engineering design challenge: building their own Battle Bots!
Then, they put their designs to the test making modifications along the way as they battled classmates’ bots and tried to pop their balloons.
Such a fun way to put the engineering design process into action!

My name is John Jewell, and I am the new 7–12 Principal at Greenon Jr./Sr. High School. As I begin my eighteenth year with Greenon, I am excited to welcome our students and families back for another great school year. We have several exciting events coming up as we prepare for the start of the school year.
First, this Saturday, August 8, Fall Meet the Knights will take place at Greenon in the HS Gym from 6:00–8:00 PM. The meeting will provide important athletic information from our new Athletic Director Evan Ivory.
Next, on Monday, August 17, we will host an Open House for all 8th–12th grade students from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Greenon 7–12 Campus. Students with last names A–M may pick up their schedules between 5:00–6:00 PM, while students with last names N–Z may do so between 6:00–7:00 PM. During Open House, students will have the opportunity to walk their schedules, meet their teachers, connect with counselors, and introduce themselves to our administrative team.
If you are unable to attend Open House or would like to view your schedule beforehand, schedules will be available in ProgressBook beginning Thursday, August 13, at 3:00 PM.
As a reminder, the first day of school is Thursday, August 20. We are looking forward to an outstanding school year filled with opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and succeed.

Meet Greenon Local Schools’ New Athletic Director, Evan Ivory!
Originally from Centerville, Evan grew up playing nearly every sport before focusing on basketball and volleyball. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and his master’s degree in sports administration from Xavier University. Education has always been a part of his life as both of his parents were educators, inspiring his passion for helping students succeed both on and off the field.
Evan and his wife, Kristin, a school counselor with the Miami Valley ESC, have two children, Myles (7) and Ellie (5). Outside of work, you’ll often find them spending time at the pool or enjoying a round of golf.
Why the #GreenonKnights?
“What stood out to me immediately was the sense of community. Successful athletic programs are built on culture first, and I could see that Greenon already has those values in place. I knew Greenon was where I wanted to be as soon as I walked out of my first interview.”

If you could play a round with any golfer, who would it be? Tiger Woods, just to watch it but at the end of the day I will always pick my dad.
What are you looking forward to in the 25-26 golf season? I know the team may young and we might have some beginners and that’s great! Sometimes that’s a really good thing. I know golf and one shot can make you want to play forever. I look forward to motivating and inspiring them to continue loving the game.
What message would you like to share with current and future Greenon golfers and our community? Greenon is a great school with great educators. Although the Greenon community is small, I believe it to be mighty. I look forward to representing the program and bringing Greenon values to life. Go Knights!

Golf is such a unique sport that teaches confidence, discipline, and perseverance, and I’m looking forward to helping our student-athletes develop those qualities while representing Greenon.
