ENON, Ohio — Greenon Local Schools is proud to celebrate longtime music educator Danielle Kelley, who was recently inducted into the Kettering Fairmont Performing Arts Hall of Fame, recognizing her accomplishments in music and continued commitment to performing arts education.

Kelley, a 2001 graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School, was involved in the school’s music program as a student. A clarinetist, she participated in wind ensemble, marching band, pep band, full orchestra, pit orchestra and show choir band. She earned superior ratings on four Class A solos, performed as a soloist with the Fairmont High School Wind Ensemble and participated in numerous honor bands and orchestras, including two years in the All-State Band. She was also a recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award.

After graduating from Fairmont, Kelley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Miami University in 2005 and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Wright State University in 2009.

Today, Ms. Kelley is in her 22nd year with Greenon Local Schools, where she teaches elementary music and middle school band. Each year, she directs four elementary musicals and multiple band concerts and leads one of Greenon Elementary’s largest annual traditions, its Veterans Day program, which brings together nearly 1,000 students in a schoolwide musical tribute honoring veterans.

“Danielle’s impact at Greenon reaches far beyond the music classroom,” said Greenon Elementary Principal Kyle Phelps. “She has helped so many students discover confidence, creativity and a love for music. The energy and dedication she brings to our students and our school community are remarkable. We could not be more proud to see her recognized with this honor.”

Kelley has also remained an active musician throughout her career, teaching private clarinet lessons and performing in community musicals, churches and other ensembles. She is currently a member of the Sinclair Community College Wind Symphony, where she performs under the direction of her former Kettering Fairmont band director, Michael Berning.

In addition to her music responsibilities, Kelley serves on the executive board of the Greenon Federation of Teachers and participates on multiple district committees, continuing to advocate for Greenon students and staff.

Kelley’s induction into the Fairmont Performing Arts Hall of Fame celebrates not only her accomplishments as a musician, but the lasting impact she continues to make through music education.

Congratulations, Ms. Kelley! Our Greenon Knights Community is lucky to have you!
