Group of board members stnading on a brick wall

Greenon Local Schools is proud to recently welcome two new members to the Greenon Board of Education: Mr. Joe Mamer and Mrs. Ashley Gregory. Both bring deep community roots, professional expertise, and a shared passion for serving the students and families of Greenon.

Mr. Joe Mamer

Mr. Mamer, sworn in on January 7, 2026,  is a lifelong resident of Enon and a proud graduate of Greenon Local Schools. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wright State University and later completed a Master’s Degree in Contract Management from American Graduate University.

He currently serves as a warranted contracting officer for the Department of the Air Force at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he specializes in soliciting, negotiating, awarding, and managing government contracts.

Mr. Mamer’s wife, Rhonda, is also a Greenon graduate and currently works for the district. Their three children are all graduates of Greenon Local Schools as well.

He has spent many years investing in local youth, coaching boys’ basketball at Indian Valley, serving as the boys’ JV coach at Greenon, and coaching recreational softball, baseball, and basketball throughout the community.

What inspired him to serve?
“As a lifelong resident, alumni, and parent of children who graduated from GLS, I have experienced and seen how our schools contribute to the development of our youth. Serving on the board provides an opportunity to bring a unique perspective and give back to the district that has done so much for my family and me.”

What strengths does he see in Greenon?
Mr. Mamer believes Greenon has a strong foundation built on community pride and commitment. He points to the dedication of teachers and staff, strong academic and extracurricular programs, and ongoing improvements in facilities and technology as key strengths.

“I've seen firsthand how committed the board and staff are to excellence. Their dedication to continuous improvement and creating a positive environment for students truly sets Greenon apart,” he noted.

What are his goals as a board member?
Mr. Mamer is especially focused on ensuring students are prepared for life after graduation,  whether that path includes college, trade school, military service, or another career path.

“A well-rounded educational experience equips students with the skills and confidence to succeed in whatever they choose to pursue,” he shared. He also emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility to ensure the district continues to serve students while honoring the community's trust.

Mrs. Ashley Gregory

Ashley Gregory, sworn in on February 12, 2026,  is a proud Greenon graduate and a current Greenon parent. She is honored to serve the district that helped shape her and now serves her own children.

Professionally, Ashley serves as Head of Global Customer Fulfillment at LexisNexis, where she leads a global organization. Her work focuses on operational excellence, strategic planning, and responsible stewardship of resources — experience she is grateful to bring to board service.

Ashley and her husband, Micah, live in the Greenon Local School District with their two children, Nash and Aria. She is actively involved in the community and loves supporting student activities and athletics.

What inspired her to serve?

“Greenon is home for me. I’m a proud graduate, and now I get to raise my kids here too. I’m incredibly thankful for what this district gave me, and serving on the board feels like a meaningful way to give back. I also want to help be a voice for students and support decisions that help them grow, learn, and feel supported.”

What strengths does she see in Greenon?

“One of Greenon’s biggest strengths is its people. We have a strong sense of community, dedicated staff, and a culture where people truly care about kids. There’s a lot of pride in this district, and I believe we have great momentum and a real commitment to doing what’s best for students.”

Her goals as a board member

Mrs. Gregory is especially excited to support student growth and achievement, strong communication with families, and responsible financial stewardship.

She is also interested in exploring how technology and artificial intelligence can be used thoughtfully to support teachers and staff while helping students learn to use emerging tools responsibly and ethically — in ways that strengthen learning and prepare them for the future.

Greenon looks forward to the leadership, insight, and dedication both Mr. Mamer and Mrs. Gregory will bring as we continue working together to support student success and strengthen our Greenon Knights community.
