The Greenon Local Schools community proudly honored more than 200 veterans during Veterans Day ceremonies held at both Greenon Elementary and Greenon Junior/Senior High School. The events brought together students, staff, and community members to celebrate the men and women who have served our country and to thank them for their courage, sacrifice, and dedication.
This year’s ceremonies were especially meaningful, as Greenon was recently recognized as a Purple Star School District. This designation honors schools demonstrating a significant commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.
“We are deeply honored to host so many veterans who have served our country and continue to inspire our students,” said Purple Star Liaison and Elementary Principal, John Jewell. “It’s an incredible opportunity for our students to hear firsthand about service, sacrifice, and what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.”
Both ceremonies featured student performances, readings, and moments of recognition for our service members. A special thank-you goes to Bob Beach, who graciously donated his Jeep for the ceremony to display and invited families to take photos with it following the event.
Greenon Local Schools extends its gratitude to all veterans for their service and to everyone who helped make this day of remembrance possible.
