My name is Brandi Mamer and I currently serve as the Greenon FFA Vice President. Our chapter holds an annual Strawberry (+ more) Sale where we sell strawberries by the flat, half flat, and individual quarts to our community, as well as additional fan-favorite products! We purchase our strawberries from Florida Fruit Association which are grown and sent fresh to us. We also include a variety of other products with our strawberries that are derived from our fruit sale! These additional products include our famous D.B. Yummers BBQ Sauce in flavors Sweet and Smokey, Spicey, and Island, which can be purchased in same-flavor 4-packs/cases as well as our mixed 4-packs/cases! Also included in the sale are nuts we purchase from “Florida’s Best” and have several options to choose from! Lastly we offer a sampler basket which contains one quart of strawberries, one bottle of sweet BBQ sauce, one can of honey crunch peanuts, and one can of chocolate covered peanuts!
This calendar year for 2020, our Strawberry (+ more) Sale started January 31st and ended on February 19th, with products arriving the week of March 9th. We encourage and expect all chapter members to participate in the sale and sell at least three full flats ($84) or the equivalent to meet our yearly goal of at least $8,500. This year we sold 725 total items with a grand total of $12,339.00 in sales.
A few members went above and beyond the expectations and were recognized in our 2020 Virtual Greenon FFA Banquet. These members were Mallory Goodbar who sold $1,540.00 in products, team of Sierra and Mason Potter who sold $966.00, Kaylynn Wilhelm who sold $588.00, and Madison North who sold $411.00 in products.
We advertise for this product by utilizing all of our resources. We send home each member with a folder of information that we review and fill out in class along with slips similar to our fruit sale, which help the customer, the seller, and the AG department keep track of orders! We also make posters and post around the school and community, we have a page on our Greenon FFA website, and we post on all social media including Facebook and Instagram. There are 3 carbon paper slips included in the folder sent home, the top one being white which is turned into a bucket to be reviewed by officers, the second one being yellow which is for the seller to keep, and the last one being the pink copy for the customer to keep if they choose. We ask that members turn in the white slips to be reviewed, while entering all orders into the Strawberry Sale spreadsheet made by our advisor Mrs. Casto. This is very beneficial and helps our process run smoothly with keeping track of orders and totals and catching errors. Our members, family, friends, and community love our strawberry sale and we are very excited for the 2021 sale!
