In the classroom this year the Greenon FFA has been working on some awesome projects! Our Freshmen have been working hard on their string art projects along with a layered animal project, tool box/ bird house, and a homemade pen. Our upperclassmen have been working on the same things along their welding project.
The layered animal project consists of cutting out each layer of the animal of your choice, putting them together with glue and then painting them however you feel fit. One student, Bass Moore (Senior) was extra creative with his layered duck project and made a custom hat for his newest project!
The pen project we have been working on is super cool and allows everyone to be creative and design their pen exactly how they want! You start off by putting your base wood on the lave and shave the wood down to the thickness and patterns you desire then you have to assemble it. No two pens will be the exact same which is really cool about this project! All of the students are making one regular pen with the twist mechanism and then a choice of making one with the twist mechanism with an added stylist or a mechanical pencil which is made the same way as the pen!
In the tool box/ bird house project it is prepackaged/ precut wood, the students assemble it and they have a choice of staining, or painting their project. It is great for allowing students to be creative and is super fun to make!
After talking to many different students in the shop, I have gotten the same answer every time, they love being able to be at school and getting to do all of the fun projects that make for great things to bring home to their family and show what they are doing in class!
